About

I have been a theatre teacher in northern California for the past eight years, including virtually since 2020. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all method for every aspiring speaker, so my style is to work with each student to define their individual goals and then tailor the techniques and exercises I introduce to match. I am especially practiced at teaching improv, lessons for children and teenagers, and working with brand-new actors, but thanks to my wide range of experience, I can offer something for anyone looking to expand their actor's toolbox. I offer a free consultation before hiring to go over goals and make sure you are confident in and comfortable with my plans to help you achieve them.

Hannah is a fantastic teacher! She is professional, always aware of the time and how best to utilize it. She is encouraging, expressing what strikes her in my performance and how it can be better. She is not judgmental, that is, she only gives constructive criticism, never destructive criticism. She sees acting as playing and so encourages my silly side, wanting to try different things to see how the performance looks and feels, which is a lot of fun! She is easygoing, asking me if I am okay with what we are doing or if I would prefer trying something different. I always look forward to class; I am super excited to see how I grow in my future lessons with her! :)

Frequently asked questions

I start by getting to know them and their experience - what have they done, what have they liked, where they would like to go further. We then craft together an overview of what they want to improve, whether that be vocal work, audition prep, physicality, monologues, whatever.

I have a Bachelor's in Theatre Education and have worked as a teaching artist in the Bay Area for several years.

Typically starting at $40 per hour, though flexible.

I've worked heavily with grades 5-10, including students with special needs such as low vision, limited mobility, and those on the autism spectrum. Students who will get the most out of these are highly motivated to do the homework on their own.

Every teacher is different. You want somebody you can build a good rapport with, who will challenge you but who you feel comfortable with so you can freely explore your creative self.
