Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Jam out and gauge where their theory level is during the first lesson. Give them one or two mind blowing homework assignments. After that, give them as much material as they want so that they don't need me anymore!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Taken private guitar lessons from various professionals. Took vocal training lessons from several Broadway singers. I'm currently taking a guitar mastery intensive class online with Sonora.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
If you know basic chords and can play songs with confidence, I charge $70/hour. Beginners I charge $50/hour. Unlimited texts/calls and exercises when we're not in a session. I want to help you learn on your own, so that you won't need me.
How did you get started teaching?
Until I studied music in college, I was almost purely self-taught. I wish I had someone guiding me in the direction earlier (specifically towards music theory). There is a way to understand music theory in a holistic manner that wasn't introduced to me until 3 years ago. I try to incorporate this method into every session I teach :)
What types of students have you worked with?
Lots of beginners, and helped countless intermediate guitarists/pianists understand theory more holistically. Watching the intermediate musicians make breakthroughs is really rewarding!
