About
My teaching style is well-balanced between seriousness and enjoyment. I want students to enjoy lessons, but I try to set a standard that is achievable yet does make the student feel challenged.
Music is my passion and sharing my love of music is what I enjoy most about teaching piano.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First we have an "interview" lesson at no charge, to make sure we are a good fit. The typical process for working with a new student varies based on many different things such as age of new student and whether the student is a beginner or transfer. The student could be an older beginner or an adult beginner or of course a first grader, so I approach each student on a very individual basis.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied with Thomas Stumpf for many years and I now study with Yoriko Fieleke; she is a certified Taubman Approach teacher. I am learning so much about the best way to play to prevent injury, pain, etc. I have a B.A. in music from UMASS and an M.A. in music with a focus on composition from UNH. I also taught a basic Music Theory Class at UNH for 3 years.
As a composer, I have some piano solos published through Alpha Major publishing. I am currently working on some new chorale pieces that were commissioned by Winchester H.S. & the Paul Madore Chorale.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I have set business policies and my studio is tuition-based; this is discussed at the interview lesson.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Meet the teacher before you begin taking lessons; ask lots of questions about experience, style of teaching, etc.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are their specific goals in learning to play piano? Also, what does this commitment involve?
