Jamil is a lifestyle and fitness coach operating in Brooklyn, NY. His favorite projects include developing and nurturing a growth oriented mindset, and building up his clients’ fitness, health, and confidence through tough training protocols and serious tests of endurance. He earned his certification from the American Council of Exercise, and has over a decade of experience in and out of the weight room. He trained extensively to prepare himself for an intensive military program, completed several obstacle course races, and recently completed three ultra marathons— two 50 milers and his first 100 miler in which he earned a 3rd place finish. He has completed advanced courses in rehabilitation, and possesses a deep understanding of biomechanics and the etiology of common chronic conditions such as knee, shoulder, neck, back, and hip pain. Jamil continues to explore a variety of training and coaching techniques, and is constantly in search of the next soul crushing endurance race.

Meeting new people and helping them naviagte the difficulties often associated with taking on and scussefully completing new challenges like marathons, military prep, weight loss, transformation of mindset, etc. is always a welcomed challenege.

There's no better feeling than seeing one's hardwork pay off over time, and seeing/feeling the confidence of my clients grow with time.

    After years of weight cycling and failed attempts to stick to an exercise program for longer than a few weeks, I finally realized I needed help. I trained with Jamil for 6 months and made more progress with him than I ever could on my own. He encouraged me to push myself to reach my goals. He provided advice on healthier eating habits. He did not judge me when I told him about rage quitting during my workouts. He encouraged me to take my time and try again when I was ready.
    Training with Jamil also helped me build the confidence to get me out of my comfort zone (hiding away in my apartment with limited equipment) and into the gym, around other humans. I truly believe he helped me make the lifestyle change I needed. While I still have a long way to go to meet some of my goals, I now have confidence in myself to get where I want to go.     I started working with Jamil after a very long period of close to no physical activity (several years). My work involved sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time and my diet consisted of basically coffee + pastries.
    At the beginning of working with him I could barely do a push-up, a lunge, or a sit-up.
    I am very careful with who I chose to work with, and Jamil was amazing at creating a safe, non-judgmental space in which I could basically start working on my fitness from zero. He put together a personalized plan for me that accounted for my fitness level (or lack thereof), health limitations (lower back pain) and goals - and kept reviewing it weekly as my fitness level improved. Jamil provided guidance on nutrition, focusing on whole, non-processed foods as well as other lifestyle factors to improve my overall health and wellbeing. I noticed my body get stronger week by week as I was able to lift heavier weights, and build more endurance - all as a result of Jamil constantly pushing my limits safely and effectively and providing encouragement and support when needed. Also, my back pain subsided - largely as a result of working with Jamil (after seeing several fancy rheumatologists for years to no avail).
    Later, I felt strong enough to take on Brazilian jiu-jitsu and he worked with me to accommodate our fitness plan around my new martial arts schedule.
    Jamil is one of the most fun people to work with that I have ever met. He is an effective communicator, professional, uplifting, caring, reliable and provides the highest level of quality possible.

    Jamil is amazing. Knows my goals and gets me there with different workouts each day that push my limits perfectly. My goal was to be able to run long distances and he got me running 6 miles, my personal best, within 3 weeks. Prior to this 2 miles was difficult for me. I know my goal of a half marathon will come working with Jamil and Project Re-Humanize, I highly recommend him, you will be extremely happy with your results!

    Estabilishing your goal is most important. After interviewing you and learning more about what it is you want to accomplish I gather all of the information you shared and come up with a plan that is sentsitive to your level of expertise, time, and comfort. 

    Communication and clarity are essential.

    I possess over ten years of physical training experience. Through my experience training up for the U.S. Navy SEAL program, Spartan Races (all tiers), and ultra marathons (50-100 mile races) I have developed a wide variety of techniques to help novices excel to advanced levels of fitness, and coach those that are already fit in an effort to take them to another level of performance. 

    I hold a personal trainers certification, and have been trained in advanced biomechanics.

    I have worked with individuals between the ages of 17 and 65. 

    I have worked with many clients simply looking to get their health and fitness in order, but also have experience training individuals for intensive events/careers: military, marathons, spartan races, etc..

    Ensure they have real-life experience, and are not fresh out of the text book. There is a lot that goes into properly training others, and many trainers/coaches tend to view their their clients as merely muscle and bone. There is so much more to consider than mere musculature. 

    It's important to take note of the resources you have available when taking on a new goal, espeically if it is a resource intensive goal like endurace racing. Many times training for events like these requires a plentiful amount of healthy foods, and training gear. It is also important to consider how much time a day/week you are willing to spend on accomplishing your goal.
