The Woodshed Music School
About
One-on-one instruction in a relaxed, yet results-oriented, studio environment.
Banjo instruction in the bluegrass style of Earl S c r u g g s, concentrates on beginners, or those with a little experience playing three-finger banjo picking. We concentrate on both lead and backup playing, backup being an emphasis as that is great fun, and where the player will actually spend the bulk of playing time with others. For more advanced players, we study the use of pentatonic scales for the 5 string bluegrass banjo.
Voice study is Legit Broadway. Both female and male voices.
Drumming lessons for the box-drum - Cajon - are offered for those interested in this South American percussion format.
Piano study is for children to older adults. The lessons are at our studio and can involve two-piano duets with more advanced students.
Our goal is to have students learn to love music and to love the activity of playing/singing.
Giving students the gift of a lifelong involvement with music.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
College degrees in music. Thirty years experience teaching/performing.
