About

I am a professional piano teacher with over 20 years of experience. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano and organ and have taught at distinguished institutions such as the Columbus Conservatory of Piano and Wittenberg University. I now run my own private studio, offering both in-person lessons in Beavercreek and Fairborn, as well as online lessons via ZOOM.

I have extensive experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced pianists. My teaching approach is relaxed yet focused, ensuring progress in each lesson while nurturing a love of music. I prepare students for recitals, contests, and college auditions, but also welcome those who wish to learn piano purely for their enjoyment.

My lessons cover a wide range of styles, including classical, jazz, pop, and sacred music. I place strong emphasis on reading music, playing with expression, and building a solid foundation in music theory. I am confident that my teaching style and experience would be a good fit for you or your child.

Lessons are $25 for a half-hour session. I would be happy to answer any questions you have or schedule a lesson at your convenience.

    Frequently asked questions

I determine a student's level of proficiency and knowledge, then find the correct level of music book to use. I generally use the Faber Piano Adventures or the Alfred series of books with my students.

I have a Bachelor of Music degee, Magna Cum Laude, in Piano and organ.

I charge $25 per half-hour lesson at my studio or online.

I have been playing piano and organ at church since I was 14. A parishoner asked me if I could teach their daughter to play piano. It all started with that first student. I was a middle school band and choir teacher right out of college.

I have had all ages of children and adults, including special needs children. I have students from 5 years of age to 89, and an ADHD student who did great.

My ADHD student played a duet with me at church a while ago. He did better than his parents thought possible.

I also contract teach at a Dayton area music studio. I like to accompany vocal students at their recitals, and I also play some duets with my students at their piano recitals.

I am the music organist/pianist at a Beavercreek church.

    Other notable performances were:

Ohio Performing Arts Musicals (piano); Clark State CC Chorus (piano); Wright State Men's Chorale (piano); Wright State Orchestra (organ); United Theological Seminary (organ); Pipe Organ dedication at Maria-Joseph Center, Dayton, OH; Benefit Concert - Baum Opera House (piano)

Look for someone with a college degree, with patience, and with the understanding that everyone learns at a different rate.

Ask about the teacher's education and experience, what kind of students have they had - their ages and levels of experience, and what methods (books) do they use.
