I love music. I love to see the students respond and learn to play music. I have taught hundreds of students over the years, and several students have furthered their dreams professionally. The key to learning is the practice...I am the teacher and coach...but it is the responsibility of the student to practice and learn. I try to make the lessons interesting and fun for the students so that they anticipate the lessons and respond to my teaching.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The age and music experience of the student determines the process that is used to start the piano training. I have used several popular Piano methods such as Alfred and Schaum.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have had 16 years of private lessons when I was young. I am a past member of the Ohio Music Teachers Association, Kentucky Music Teachers Association, The National Piano Guild, and have taken college level Master Classes at Marshall University and University of Kentucky. I also belonged to the Ashland Kentucky Music Teachers Group.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I prefer to teach lessons in my home. I use a Roland Digital Piano. The lesson price is $12.00 a lesson (paid monthly) The second student in the same family is $10.00 a lesson. I can travel to your home and the price is based upon how far I would have to drive.
How did you get started teaching?
I applied for a job in Ohio at a music store that was just opening up. I was asked to play a piece of sheet music "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" (a piece that I had never played before). Apparently I did well enough that I was hired. The store went out of business after a few months and from then I started teaching at home.
What types of students have you worked with?
A few beginner adults and the majority of students have been from 2nd grade through high school. Two of my students have furthered their music education in college.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My motto is "Learning Piano Should be Fun" I try to present music to the students that are fun to play and that display their expertise.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students need to set aside a minimum of 3 hours a week for practice. The student's progress is directly related to how much practice is achieved.
