About
Kevin A. James is a composer, performer, and teacher. Kevin was born in Alexander City, Alabama and began piano lessons at age seven and instantly fell in love with music. As a composer, his wide-range of skills help him write for many different kinds of music. He specializes in church music and marching band but has also written for concert band, commercial, film, chamber ensemble, solo, and jazz. For example, he has written for the Samford University Marching Band, Samford University Dance Department, Central Alabama Community College Jazz Band, multiple high school bands, Russell Medical’s department of Total Fitness, and First Baptist Church of Alexander City’s Adult Choir. As a musician, he regularly performs on saxophone, piano, and vocals. He currently leads worship at First Baptist Church of Alexander City and is a sophomore at Samford University where he seeks to obtain a Bachelor of Music in Composition with a minor in Worship Leadership.
Music is my life. I can’t imagine my life without it. Everything I do involves music. I want others to experience the same joy I experience every day. Therefore, I have a desire for everyone to have the opportunity to learn about music because it can change lives
