About
Aimee grew up In Green Bay, Wisconsin, and her favorite thing is Paint! She wouldn't put down the art supplies when she was a child, and eventually, this passion for scribbles lead to her earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2D Studio from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. She has volunteered for the Southern Art Society, worked as a studio assistant in a fine art foundry, and participated in numerous University, non-profit, and private art gallery shows. She now lives in Phoenix so she won't have to shovel snow ever again.
I love working with paint! Art is such a fabulous way to freely express our experiences and our inner life. Think of the way you respond to art seen in public spaces...those images that connect with you aesthetically. What is it about them that stands out visually, and what is it about the image content in particular that connects to your inner world?

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Start with the basics! Materials first, then color theory and other concepts, such as tone and value. Lessons are broken up into easy to understand stages with projects that build confidence.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2D Studio with a focus on Painting from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons begin at $25 per hour with a group size of no more than two people. Rates will be adjusted for larger groups.
How did you get started teaching?
I was a graduate school teaching assitant (an educational step that was put on hold when Covid-19 shut everything down), I teach paint and sip classes, and also studio courses.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types! I am open to teaching anyone at any stage of artistic development, and any age.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Some of my favorite events are the smaller ones with more one-on-one focus. With my most recent event, I was very proud of my six attendees and their ability to follow directions and create an amazing image while still adding personal style. They were able to complete the entire painting in a three hour window!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look at their range of ability, but also speak with them to see if your vision for learning meshes with their teaching methods. You want a talented instructor easy to work with, someone who easily increases your confidence and ability.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What outcome are you seeking? Are you a hobbyist, or would you like to engage in creating art long term as a more serious pursuit? If it's the latter, are you willing to take more than a handful of lessons to investigate materials and styles so you can find the process and "voice" that's unique to you?
