Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Getting to know the student and what they would like to achieve through lessons. Helping also to establish a practice routine.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor's degree from ASU
Masters degree from New England Conservatory of Music
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
30$ per half hour
How did you get started teaching?
After graduation started my own studio. Over the yrs have built up on average 40 students in both flute and piano.
What types of students have you worked with?
Ages 7- adult. Beginner to advanced.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Every Christmas I take my students to perform at a different retirement community. We perform holiday and classical music on flute piano and flute ensembles. We all look forward to this performance every year. The residents are so thankful.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the teacher is proficient on 1 or 2 instruments. If they teach multiple instruments you will only get a broad overview of how to play that instrument as opposed to someone who has intensely studied one or two instruments. Strong education background and performing experience very helpful.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Goals- interests in musical styles- practice commitments. Performing opportunities.
