5th Set Volleyball
About
5th Set Volleyball @ Spiece Fieldhouse is unique because we are NOT affiliated with any club. What does this mean? It simply means your INDIVIDUAL improvement is all that matters to us. At Spiece and with Coach Randy you will be trained specifically to YOUR goals. There are several clubs that allow for a lot of team play and all the fun that goes with that. 5th Set wants to support you as you navigate through school and club volleyball.
We love seeing athletes improve, especially in areas that might be causing some anxiety. 5th Set wants you confident as you join teams throughout your career. We thoroughly enjoy tailoring your training specifically to you and the needs you have!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Randy will chat with you for 5-10 minutes to gain a feel for your thoughts on your game and skills. For example, where are you confident vs where are you stressed? But we will get busy quickly! Once we go through some skill work and we find base-lines, video will be used to create some instant visual feedback.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Randy has been a full-time volleyball professional for over 30 years. During that time technology and video have allowed coaches and athletes to train much more efficiently. Randy's eyes have been trained to spot problems thanks to countless hours of video breakdown during player development sessions.
All coaches training at Spiece Fieldhouse are AAU registered, background screened and are certified through AAU's coaching ethics program.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Individual and private lessons are terrific, especially for 1-2 lessons. However, volleyball is never played with one person. It is one of the most player interactive games there is. The game is played in sequence and with teammates. Lessons usually improve once a second or third player is involved because we can begin stacking skills and simulating how the game is really played.
Rates are:
Private - $80 per hour
Semi-private (2 athletes) - $120 per hour total
Semi-private (3-4 athletes) - $150 per hour total
How did you get started teaching?
Randy began teaching and coaching the game following serious injuries and the end of his playing career in the 80s.
What types of students have you worked with?
5th Set has trained professional athletes who are in their off-season to very young athletes who have no skills.
