Violin & Viola Lessons
About
I am a professional violinist and violin/viola teacher. I have been playing the violin for over 20 years and I have more than 15 years of experience as a freelance strings teacher and orchestral violinist.
I am an intuitive, compassionate, and energetic mentor to students of all ages and levels. I strive to ignite a passion in my students by helping them find their musical voice and developing the technical skills to successfully play music for their entire lives.
I can help you form a solid foundation of technique though practicing and preparing scales, arpeggios, etudes, and a wide variety of repertoire. You will learn the fundamentals (rhythm, intonation, and tone) which will be applied to all beginning, intermediate, and advanced techniques.
Aside from the technical foundations, I can also help you acquire or work on these life skills:
*Listening, observation, and communication
*Discipline, patience, perseverance, and confidence
*Creativity, problem solving, and collaboration
For intermediate and advanced students, I can offer help with audition preparations for youth orchestras, college auditions, chamber coachings, and collaborations with other musicians.
I have also had the great privilege of teaching students with special needs (autism and Down syndrome) and learning disorders (dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia). I firmly believe that anyone can learn to play an instrument and can learn to appreciate the beauty and power of music.
I absolutely love teaching and I strongly believe that anyone can learn to play an instrument! Learning a new instrument (or continuing your musical journey) simply requires practice, listening, problem solving, discipline, and determination. If you want to learn, you can! I strive to teach every student how to teach themselves.
