Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I structure lessons based on how a student wishes to learn rather than using a one fits all approach. The process should be enjoyable from the start - not a chore. That's not to say it doesn't take work - anything worth learning does, but it can and should be fun.
Do you want to learn to play rythym, lead or to play & sing? Previous experience (if any) is taken into consideration, however, most important is that students enjoy the learning process from the start. There are countless methods of learning, finding (or developing) the ideal is of utmost importance. It usually takes a willingness to stick with it for up to 3 months to discover if the passion to play is really within someone.
I've helped several people learn to play and sing, around a campfire with friends or professionally as a career.
A "Magic Moment" strikes when a person discovers they ARE guitar players, from there the sky's the limit.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over 3 decades as a professionally guitarist, vocalist, performing, recording & producing. When I was young I took guitar lessons for a few months. I discovered that I preferred to learn and play by ear. At 17 I was asked to join a working band, later I formed a Rock/Blues Trio which was signed by a Boston Label. We opened for many well known bands throughout New England for 3 years.
I was severely injured and couldn't perform for over 2 years and the label found a replacement for me. Ever since I've been an Indie Artist, I've been offered other deals but was physically unable to go back out on the road
Over the years I've taught many to play guitar, sing and write songs. I've had to have surgery many times and while recovering from one, I developed a method for learning guitar which I intend to publish. It's proven to work very well and fast, called "5 Chords And A Capo"™️
It's excellent for online learning via Zoom or Skype. Students get all sessions recorded and a private link to every lesson and many exceptional resources I've found over the years.
I offer FREE FIRST LESSONS,and do not time them, we stay at it until the student fully understands the lesson goal for no extra charge.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
