I am a working actor that teaches. I have appeared in all mediums, and combine on stage and on set experience with 12 years of teaching experience. I offer a no nonsense approach that encourages you to do your best work.
I love seeing students make break throughs and start to find flow in their work! It is excting to see an actor come alive in a role.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to begin by getting a sense of the student's goals and experience. Then I like to see how the student works, what habits they have developed, both productive and inhibitive, and then start to lead the student on a path of more freedom and depth, leading to more confidence and consistency.

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching as an MFA student at the University of Minnesota. Then in 2007, when working with Randy Reinholz at Native Voices, he hired me to teach Audition Technique at SDSU and I have been teaching consistently ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types: teens, senior citizens, disabled, LGBTQ, all races, many different countries, including: India, Ukraine, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, to name a few.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My class last night, when my shy student Anthony had his voice drop in and he experienced his own power more profoundly than he ever has before.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who gets you and your goals that is supportive but also tells it like it is. Tough love.
