About

Pasha Music music lessons include piano, music composition/ theory and music production.

Lessons are provided by Alfred Surenyan, who is a professional composer, with a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree.

Piano lessons are for all levels and all ages, from beginners to advanced students. Music compositon and production lessons are provided using GarageBand, Logic Pro X or Pro Tools, depending on which program the student owns.

I have been teaching music for over 20 years and the best part of teaching music is the end result, when students feel good about themselves for learning to play or compose music.

I enjoy passing my knowledge on to others, which is probably the best part of what I do. It's almost like a hobby, given how much pleasure and satisfaction it brings me!

Frequently asked questions

Piano:

If they have previous experience in playing, I first see what their level is, in order to have a better understanding where to start the lessons.

For students with no previous experience, I start them fresh with a beginning book.  At the end of the very first lesson they will have learned one simple song to play on the piano.

Musical Composition:

I ask the student what they are seeking to learn, what style and genre.  I also ask to see or hear any compositions they have already composed to access what level they are at.  First lessons are always about the basic elements of musical composition.  These elements work with all geners and styles of music.

I also ask for what their goals are as a composer.  The focus is not only learning to compose music but also have their music performed, recorded and uploaded to Youtube and SoundCloud.

I studied musical compositon, piano, and musicology for over 20 years.

I have alwasy wanted to teach music when I first started my educational career.  My goal was to be both a private teacher and a classrom instructor.  All my education was part of buidling towards that goal.  I enjoy teaching and passing knowledge.

I have worked with studetns of all ages and levels, both in piano and compositon.  I have also worked with students in music production with the use of computers and Digital Audio Workstations.

I have worked with students with disabilites as well.

My last student recital.  It was amazing, my 5 year old student who was timid at first and scared.  Everyone was patient with him and helped him feel comfortable and easy.  Both his father and I went up to the piano to be with him while he played.  Once he started to play, his fears were all over and he had a huge smile on his face.

What is your specific goals?  Are looking to be able to perform or study for knoweledge or both?

How much practice time do I have per week for lesson?  What is realistic in being able to work towards goals?
