Yoga Asanas With Sonia | Yoga Lessons
About
I can help you learn and understand yoga basics including proper breathe, alignment, and movement. Through dedication, more intermediate poses can be offered. As a plus size yoga instructor and am able to help with variations for yoga poses that will work for and with your shape and size to challenge your mind and body.
I am a RYT 200 hr yoga instructor. I have been practicing yoga since 2002, but really deepened my connection to yoga in 2016 and then became certified as an instructor.
I believe in compassionate living as a vegan and truly believe everyone benefits from yoga!
I love watching my students and seeing the excitment they have when a new progress is attained in their practice. I also love hearing how yoga is encouraging them to change their lives off the mat: eating with mindfullness, spending more time in nature, etc.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Ask questions and get to know where they are in their yoga journey and what are they seeking. I also want to know of any sore spots or injuries we will be working with.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I trained for 200 hours to attain my yoga certification, but always look for deeper education to strengthen what I offer. I am a current yoga instructor and will always be a student.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
One time private lesson starts at $35. Ongoing private lessons start at $30.
Small group lessons (2-4 people) start at $20 a person.
Pricing is depending on distance.
How did you get started teaching?
I always thought it would be great to teach yoga, but I never thought, as a curvier/thicker woman, that I would be able to. With encouragment from my family and friends I started studying my way through teacher training until I obtained what was once a dream of being a yoga instructor.
What types of students have you worked with?
I primarily started instructing within the curvy yoga community, but since expanding myself I now instruct all body types.
I work with the senior/retired community instructing chair/mat yoga as well as gentle intermediate mat yoga. I also teach a power yoga class suitable for all shapes and sizes.
I also make sure to show yoga pose variations when needed as well as remind my students, in every class, to listen to your body and let your breath be your guide.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
When looking to work with an instructor make sure you feel comfortable and have a good chemistry/vibe between you two.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Before talking to instrcutors know the needs that you really want to focus on: balance, flexibility, focus, breathing, etc. This will allow the instructor to plan, prepare and bring you their best effort in order to meet your need(s).
