I have many years of experience, teaching people of all ages, specializing in American folk and bluegrass on fiddle, autoharp, mandolin, guitar, banjo, dulcimer and piano . I have loaner instruments for some of those instruments that students may borrow. I come from a family of folk musicians and grew up singing and playing, stqrting at an early age.

In my guitar lessons I learned music—ear training, styles of drumming appropriate to different kinds of tunes, handling different kinds of time, a wide and interesting repertoire of tunes, harmony singing, flat picking melody, and other things. Evo built from what I already knew and could do. These lessons were a rare treat-and I looked forward to them and was motivated to practice.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I use many instruments and techniques in my studio to teach music fundamentals and then we focus on one or two instruments. Students read and learn ear training, also music theory.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing, teaching and performing for most of my 65 years.
