Corona Art Association
About
The Corona Art Association, which was founded in 1963, is a non-profit organization with a history of community involvement. Our membership includes many recognized artists in the Southern California area whose work spans a variety of styles and media. We promote art in the community and provide opportunities for individuals to learn about the visual arts, enhance creative skills through classes and demonstrations, and by participating in art shows and various community events.
I, along with the other artists that teach classes at CAA love art and love being able to share our experience and areas of expertise with others. Our classes take place in a small art gallery where we also exhibit our own artwork during the year. It is a comfortable and informal venue where we have small sized classes and can give individual attention to our students. We enjoy the opportunity to get to know our students, many of whom have been with us for years.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We determine which of our classes is what the student is looking for by age or art medium. We offer adult 2-D and 3-D art classes as well as classes for children in which they are introduced to a wide variety of art mediums. The small class size allows us to get to know the student and their skill level to determine the best way to help them progress.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Each of our instructors has many years of experience working in art. Personally, my art background includes a B.A in Art from Cal State Long Beach as well as studio experience apprenticing for a well-known Laguna Beach artist. I've enjoyed passing my knowledge on in my children's art classes for five years.
Our adult 2-D art teacher, Mary Lou Wallace is a skilled painter and has helped many students enjoy and perfect their art.
Our 3-D art teacher, Nohad Sabbagh has sculpted for Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, American Museum of Natural History and Mattel Toys. She teaches her craft to adults and children.
Our Adult special needs teacher, Diane Archuleta, has taught thousands of students over the years and teaches a weekly class at the Corona Library.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
2-D art classes are $15 per weekly lesson or $60 per month (4 lessons) materials included.
The 3-D classes for adults consist of 4 sessions for $100 plus $25 for materials. The children's 3-D classes are 4 sessions for $60 including materials.
We do not accept credit or debit cards at this time.
How did you get started teaching?
As a homeschool parent, I incorporated art into my kids studies wherever I could. Because of my art background I was often put in charge of doing arts and crafts with our homeschool group, church and girl scouts. After my kids grew up, I began teaching Parks and Rec art classes and children's classes at CAA.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mainly kids from 6 to 12 years old, however older students are welcome to join our classes.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What skills would they like to develop first? What art medium most interests them? Do they want to work on long or short projects they can finish in a class period?
