About

I am currently a Music Student at California State University Los Angeles studying Music Education. I also play piano for a choir in Saint Anthony's Church in San Gabriel, CA. I teach variety of styles, from learning to play classically from a sheet music, as well as improv styles for church. Overall I focus my students on technique emotion with music.

The one thing I enjoy about teaching music in general because the connection between a student and a teacher. At some times a teacher must be strict and at other times the student deserves a praise, but what matters the most is how the student and teach understands each other to reach towards the end goal. I was born with music in my life, since four years old my parents threw on to a keyboard and I started playing away. By teaching new students, i get a chance to share them the experience I had and the passion I gained as a kid.

Frequently asked questions

Depending on the age there are different workbooks I set out for my students. I seperate my age groups from ages 7-11, 12-15, and 16+. With the little kids, I would have them play along with cd's and sing with them. In the middle age group I would have them play songs that are well familiar to keep them interested in playing. While the high school and adults, I would teach them the process in learning piano through verbal communication.

In high school, I was the drum major in band and section leader choir. Being a leader of some sort, I have the experience and training of teach highschoolers how to play their certain instrument or how to sing. Outside of piano teaching I privately tutor math to young kids in elementary school, so I understand what would a child want to learn and what motivates children to learn.

Currently, my sessions range from 30-45 minutes charging 20 dollars per session. If sessions are an hour, I charge 25 dollars Each student would come learn one session per week. If the week is missed then there would be no charge.

I started teaching since highschool, teaching my section percussion instruments leading concert season. During my senior year, my band director resigned and it gave me the responsibilty to be the leader lead the band towards placing in competitions. In choir, I would play piano teaching all the sections the music as the choir director was on business trips for weeks. In church I have played piano for a year and it attracted students to learn my technique and style. From the little bits of teaching in highschool my business boomed from my performance during church.

I have worked with students as young as 7 years old to adults nearly 40 years old. I am currently teaching kids in the average age of 12. For personality, I have worked with quiet students, with students who like to talk alot, and students who have a slow time understanding things. For these type of students it takes time and understanding to have them to work with you and cooperate, but they are all wonderful students.
