Acting is an incredible art form. It's one of the great joys in my life and I love diving into the craft with other people. I have my M.F.A in acting, have studied many techniques, and use many of them in my own professional career. Depending on the style of script, your skill level, your age, and your desired outcome I have many tools to help you reach your goals while having an awesome time. I don't just do traditional 'scene study' and 'table work.' We will work dynamically and physically to lift the words off the page and give them life. I love acting, teaching acting, and creating works of art with other people, both theater and film. The process of discovery is one that never ceases to put me in a state of awe. When I do my own work on a character, that character teaches me about facets of life and my own existence. It brings me deep joy to watch and assist in the journey from a first read of the text by a studnet, to a full embodyment of a character by a student. Along the way there are moments of frustration and doubt. We have the chance to work through them together and learn from it all. All along the way there moments of profound insight, pure delight, and transformation. It is an art that brings you into the present moment and have incredible connection with yourself and others.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want our experience together to be one that supports whatever your desired outcome. So I will ask questions about what you want from our lessons, listen carefully, and create lessons that will support your goals. If you have a scene you are working on for an audition, we will prepare you for that audition. If you want to learn more about Shakespeare, we will dive into a text that inerests you in fun an original ways. If you are ready to audition with two contasting Generally I am quite positive, supportive and creative.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been acting for almost 30 years. I have an M.F.A in acting and have additional training in Suzuki, Viewpoints, and Improv (U.C.B).
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I base my pricing on the professional rate I get at higher education institutions. For an individual session I charge $75.00/ hour. If you take more than one lesson or have more than one person in a lesson than the price will decrease or can be split between classmates. I am willing to do a sliding scale.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been a teacher for a long time ( I have three younger siblings), but formally I started teaching when I was a grad student at U.C.Irivne. I would teach undregradduate courses in Acting, Voice and Speech, Movement, and Theater history.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a variety of students, from Veterans returning from the Iraq war in thier 30s or 40s, youth in thier teens and twenties, to younge ages 6-12.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You want to find a teacher that is invested in you as an individual and is not trying to sell you a one size fits all model of acting. You want a teacher who will learn about who you are and adapt thier methodology to hep you grow and succeed.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what you want and also about the learnig envoirment you want while you attain that goal. If you want someone who is really critical, harsh and not understanding, I am not the teacher for you. If you want someone who in ecouraging, positive and supportive I am the teacher for you. I am not going to sugar coat things for you, I will give you the honest feedback you need.
