About

Los Angeles is full of talented coaches and teachers.

What sets me apart is my diverse experience as a professional musical theatre performer, musician, songwriter, show choir champion, choral arranger and parent.

My B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from Webster Conservatory of Fine Arts informs the way I approach music.

I combine technique and thorough analysis of the music to help musicians create a very specific performance that communicates emotion and intention.

My professional experience working at such places as The North Carolina Theatre, Repertory Theatre of Saint Louis, Radio City Christmas Show, and Disney's Groove 66 with Deke Sharon help me prepare students who are auditioning for professional opportunities or B.F.A. auditions.

Having been part of a National Championship Show Choir helps me teach how to sight read quickly and different tricks to use when learning complex harmonies. I use my piano and violin background to enrich my sessions with physical and visual connections to master ear training.

My songwriting and session singing create versatility in my students, who explore everything from classical to pop to country to jazz. And parenting has enhanced the way I teach; I'm encouraging with a gentle, positive approach that still honors the discipline that is required of complex learning.

My education and professional background create a toolbox that include vocal endurance, optimum breathing, proper placement, ear training, improvisation, sight reading, range expansion and performance.

I look forward to sharing it with you! See more about me at www.staysinging.com or on Instagram @stay_singing

I love exploring the storytelling that is in lyrics and helping students find the secret language of music. There is so much to analyise in the melody, the score, the lyrics, the phrasing, the rests, the dynamics.

If there is something that is holding a singer back, even if it is something technical, there is usually a key element in the music that can help break through the mental block and help them find new colors in their performance.

Frequently asked questions

No matter your vocal ability, your song needs to tell a story.

When we are emotionally connected to communicating, our voices know exactly what to do. I work from the outside in and the inside out---sometimes connecting from the heart creates the vocal technique that is needed and sometimes connecting with vocal technique creates the emotion that takes a song to the next level.

I have my B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from Webster Conservatory of Theatre Arts. I have been a professional musical theatre actor and vocalist for 20 years.

See www.staysinging.com for pricing and packages. I offer private and group lessons.
