About

I am a drum teacher based in Long Beach, with 13 years' experience in all things percussion and drums, though I teach primarily drum set and orchestral snare and bass drum. I have experience playing with one Grammy award winner and two Grammy nominees, and have learned from them in many different ways, musically and professionally. I am also studying mysic in college, and trying to grow my career professionally while using skills gained in both 13 years of experience as a musician and also by being a junior in college.

I am extremely passionate about teaching in general. I strongly enjoy teaching music to anyone who desires to learn. Music is my passion, and as there is always more to learn, there will always be more to teach. I love when I am able to shoe someone something that they have been struggling with for a long time, and I am very proud when they learn it.

Frequently asked questions

I usually will start with the very basics, including what will be needed for these lessons, then I do an assessment of progress and learning style, and based on that, I will personalize each lesson by learning style and speed. I will follwo the curriculum that was used to teach me.

I have played drums for 13 years, and I will use the method used to teach me to pass on my knowledge. Also, I have studied music theory for the same amount of time, and am studying it in college.

My prices are as follows :

30 minute lesson: $20 each ($40 each for an hour )

30 minute 4 lesson plan: $80 ($160 for an hour)

30 Minute 12 lesson plan: $240 ($480 for an hour)

I decided that I would focus and put my all into music after highschool, and being a tutor and a per counselor for students while I was in highschool and also now that I am in college opened up the door for a new passion, in addition to music: teaching. So, since I want to be both a music professional, and a music teacher, I decided that I would use the amount of knowledge that I have amassed and also pursue my passion to help others and grow childrena and adults alike in music.

I have taught a wide demographic of people, from very young children to highschool and college students to adults. I have worked with visual learners, auditory, and kinesthetic learners, of all age groups and bacgrounds. Due to my knowledge of many different music genres, I have been able to relate to many different students.

Recently, I was able to perform in a jazz band in front of the President of Long Beach City College and was specifically thanked for excellent playing, and therefore asked to play again an art gallery, for which I was paid by the school. Also, I was invited to jam with the producer of Macy Gray's hit album "On How life Is" (Dave Wilder) in Glendale, and was praised on my skill as a drummer. I recieved his contact information and will proceed to play with him in the future.

Make sure to look for a teacher who will both teach and emphasize the basics and fundamentals and who has ample experience playing your desired style of music, so that he can cate to your needs specifically.

Students must know that any good teacher will teach you what you need to know before teaching what you want to know, simply because what you want to know is more than likely going to take longer to master if your fundamentals are not intact. Trust that your instructor knows what they are doing, as it will be evident if they don't.
