Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It really depends on the need of the student as music education is so individual-specific and interest-driven. I have a lot to offer with strong backgrounds in classical music, in jazz, and also in contemporary music. I usually chat with each student individual to identify needs, and then develop a teaching plan from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a magma de laude graduate and achievement award recipient from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. I hold ABRSM Grade 8 Piano Certification and Grade 5 Music Theory Certification.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$100 per hour
How did you get started teaching?
I was always fast at music theory, so I taught younger students when I was in high school and helped my peers while in college! It is truly my passion to help others understand music.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with both younger students (K-12) and college students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Identify what areas interest you and find a teacher who is qualified and strong in that area! Education is not a one-size fit all but about overall growth and development!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. How much time am I thinking of committing?
2. What are the resources I have to help me learn?
3. How do I learn best?
