About

I have been teaching piano on and off for over 30 years. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Humanities/Music and studied in Vienna while performing for European audiences. Classical piano is my passion, but I will teach anything you'd like to play! I will help you enjoy the piano as much as I do.

I have also been an elementary teacher since 2008. I hold a Multiple Subject Credential in the State of California and have most recently taught as an Intervention Teacher at Rocketship Spark Academy. I know how to help you close the achievement gap!

I love helping students express themselves musically. I give students tools to help them do that.

I also love helping students have that "Ah-hah!" moment. I truly believe any student can learn and become a student scholar.

Frequently asked questions

Students make an appointment to come to my home in Morgan Hill.  The first lesson is free.  If they like what they see, we can schedule our first month of lessons!

Bachelor's Degree in Humanities/Music.  I've taught on and off for over 30 years.  I have done Study Abroad in Vienna and have performed for European audiences.  I also hold a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in the State of California and can tutor any subject from K-6.

For piano lessons, my fee is tuition based.  I charge $150/month for weekly 1/2 hour lessons.  Some months or shorter and some are longer, but it works out to about $35/lesson.  If you miss a lesson you can make it up on Saturday afternoons, as long as it is in the same month.  If you would like 1 hour lessons, the tuition is $250/month.

For tutoring sessions, my fee is $40 per session.  Together we work out how many times a week you'd like to come and then we will work out a monthly tuition.

I have played the piano since I was 8 years old and as an adult I have taught lessons on and off for about 30 years to all ages.  I have a degree in Humanities/Music from BYU-Provo and have studied abroad in Vienna where I performed for European audiences.

I've been a school teacher since 2008 and my favorite role was an Intervention Teacher, helping students one and one and in small groups.

All ages from 5-99, from beginners to advanced.

I play in a piano quartet and every year we perform 1-hour concerts at Christmas.

Make sure your piano teacher can play music beyond the level of your student.  Make sure your tutor has classroom experience as well as subject matter knowledge.

What is your objective?  How will you measure your teacher's performance?  Be specific about what you should be able to do after completing lessons and hold your teacher accountable.
