About

As a teacher that I have been for fourteen years, it is a priority for me that my students feel comfortable and happy when learning a new language while the content is meaningful for them and progress is measurable.

For this reason, I will give you a first free 30 min session as I will spend at least 15 min getting to know your needs and evaluating your level in order to go from there.

Materials needed for class and for homework are one or two inexpensive books that you can get on amazon and I'll be sending worksheets as well.

Classes are to be scheduled weekly. If for whatever reason a class needs to be postponed I will be flexible to accommodate my schedule but I prefer to stick to our times.

There's no extra cost if another person joins in. They preferably need to be about the same level.

Hola, mi nombre es Liliana. I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Morelia in Mexico. In my middle school and high school years I attended an English academy in the evenings and when I reached a high proficiency level I took the English Teachers Training Course and that is how my teaching career began.

My major was in Elementary school education and I went to a catholic private college called Anahuac. During my college years, I also took on the side a Spanish Teaching Course and months later I became the youngest Spanish teacher at the lagauge school. I taught foreigners from Europe and the US mostly, in small groups of four people and individually as well.

I decided that I wanted to teach in the U.S. as I wanted to work with bilingual communities and also teach other cultures my beautiful language, and so I moved to California in 2009. I got married five years ago to an amazing man that I met playing tennis and who is now also in the process of learning Spanish.

I worked in Oakland CA for seven years teaching Elementary grades and I have now been teaching Spanish 1 and 2 at a High School that I love.

I also speak a little bit of French, I've lost a lot of it due to lack of practice but I enjoy learning new languages, cultures and making friends throughout the world.

I value and appreciate different cultures, diversity and mostly people's interest and passion to learn Español and unlike other teachers who are in the education field because they had a career change, this is something that my passion called at a young age.

I meet with students online two times a week at the convenient schedule they choose. In case you can't make it, I can try to give you another option but I appreciate consistency to respect the shcedule of the other students.

I started tutoring Fernando, a Middle School kid who needed help in English when I was seventeen, I discovered my passion for helping somebody learn and my first official teaching job was at age 19 in Morelia Mexico teaching Spanish to foreigners coming specially from the US. I was teaching individual lessons and groups.

In Mexico, I taught Spanish to children, High School students that visited us from Chicago and Portland, college students, adults from the U.S and Europe, a lot of seminarians and I remember also a group of female teachers from Wisconsin.

In the US, I have taught bilingual kinder, second, fourth grades. Spanish to High School all grades.

I think you should e very honest about your learning style if you have a particular way of learning that works for you.

Don't be afraid to ask questions and to ask for the teacher to modify something to your style of learning. For instance if you're dislexic ask the teacher to break the word for you in chunks or if the teacher is going to fast don't be afraid to ask.
