About
I have over 30 years of experience, teaching privately and for organisations including Sing! Siem Reap and the National Children's Orchestras of Great Britain. I teach at home in the Altadena / Pasadena area and also on-line. Having toured for 28 years with Yanni, I have international students and my teaching studio expanded during the pandemic. I have a flexible schedule and can work with your time zone!
Getting to know my students is one of the most enjoyable aspects of my work! Learning about what music they enjoy, what brought them to a specific instrument etc and working together to empower students to play and understand music by themselves is incredibly rewarding. My own musical journey has been an incredible adventure, and I wish the same for all my students!

How did you get started teaching?
While a student at Guildhall School of Music and Drama I was asked to fill in for staff at the National Chidlren's Orchestras of Great Britain. I then started a teaching studio for private lessons, and during the pandemic I expanded to on-line teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginners of cello, piano, music theory... and English students! Many adults who have always wanted to learn or are returning after many years of not playing!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am very fond of teaching recently at Sing! Siem Reap! A music school in Cambodia where I had many enthusiastic beginner and intermediate students!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would hire someone who will tailor a class to your particular goals, taking into account the time you have available to practice in between lessons and the type of music you want to learn to play. It saves frustration and getting overwhelmed. You will need an instrument and your teacher should be able to advise on renting or buying one. Music should be enjoyable at any age and level!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Do you have an instrument already, or need help getting one?
Can you commit to regular lessons (doesn't have to be weekly)?
Are you prepared to work on teachnique in addition to repertoire?
Are you patient? Progress takes time, but will be rewarded!
What music do you enjoy currently (listening/playing)?
Do you have specific goals in mind for your music?
