Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
As an experienced teacher, I begin by getting to know you and where you are in your abilities today. I will listen to your goals and needs for the style of shooting you’d like to do and work with you to build those skills.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Teaching has always been a passion. I began teaching private music lessons 32 years ago at the age of 16 and am now professional teacher in the public schools and hold a California State Teaching Credential. I took up photography as a hobby and counterbalance to my work as a professional musician, and teaching photography was a natural outgrowth of that hobby.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$60/ Hour, $100 for two hours
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types and ages of students from 4th graders to retirees, with both physical and learning disabilities.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should know what types of shots they have enjoyed taking in the past and maybe have an idea of what they would like to do better. It doesn’t matter if their camera is their phone or an advanced DSLR, I will help them identify areas they can improve and help them explore new avenues for their photography.
