Frequently asked questions

When i begin with a new student, I like to first figure out where they are.  I will ask if they've played before, if so for how long, etc.  I also like to know if they have taken any type of lessons before.  Then, I always let the student hit some balls, including groundstrokes, volleys, and serves.  From there we will talk about their goals while playing such as for recreation, exercise, to play on a team, go to college, etc.

I was taught to play and teach by a former touring professional.  I assisted him with junior clinics when I was 17.  That's how I got started teaching and I've been doing it ever since.  I obtained USPTA Certification and have taught small children, high school / college players, and adults of all ages.  I have over 18 years teaching experience including serving as the Head Teaching Professional at 2 separte clubs in Atlanta, GA.

Yes, my standard rate is $45 per hour.  However, if someone wishes to commit to 5 or 10, I will discount that price some.  I am much more interested in helping someone become a better player than making huge amounts of money.  I really enjoy teaching.

While taking lessons as a junior, my coach needed assistance with kids clinics at the local YMCA.  He spent several hours teaching me how to teach others and I assisted him with the clinics.  I have taught off and on ever since.

Beginners, Intermediates, and advanced.  I've worked with children as young as 6 and adults as mature as 60.  I have coached ALTA teams, both junior and adult, USTA adult teams, and both high school and college players.

Do some research.  Not all teachers are equal.  Some are very good, some are very poor.  But, it's about the right fit for the student.  Look for reviews or ask someone who currently takes from the instructor they are considering.
