Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to have an initial conversation with my new student in order to know what goals the student has when learning Spanish and what level they have. I like to establish a connection with my students where they can feel comfortable asking questions, and that way it is easier to adapt to their needs or pace. One on one classes gives you the chance to have a learning process that adapts to your schedule and your goals.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching English in my country, working with translations and helping kids and adults learn English to a level they could speak and understand. Later I had the opportunity to work for a Chinese institute teaching Spanish to Chinese kids and adults, speaking, writing, reading and understanding. I help students get their certification for Spanish as a second language.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with kids from 5 years old to adults up to 50 years old.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher you feel comfortable with, someone who you can trust, someone who inspires you confidence, so you can ask everything you need to know, also boring classes will make learning more complicated, look for a teacher with whom you feel motivated.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Always think about your goals, how you learn better? And make sure to ask about the system the teacher will use for your classes, will it be a book, conversation, videos, music, worksheets, cards?
