Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would ask and answer questions to get to know them a little better. I feel that if they are comfortable they will be in the right headspace to learn. I would find out what they know already and start there. I would test how well they know the material and then access from there. After a strong foundation had been created then I would introduce new material.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA in Photojournalism and finished most of the courses towards my MA in Commercial Photography.
How did you get started teaching?
I have always felt the need to help others who came to me. Anything anyone asked about photography I would gladly answer in detail.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mainly college aged individuals.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone with the tone and patience to help you. Get a teacher who will not cut corners and will challenge you every step of the way.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Can I learn this on my own?
Do I understand what I am learning?
Can someone else help me me get a better grasp on this medium?
