Piano With Guy

Guy Clearwater has helped me become so much better at piano. Before I was doing simply music with Guy, I almost never wanted to practice, but now that guy is teaching me piano he has made practicing fun. He has my sister and me make up our own songs and now we have even been able to make up a duet. Guy has helped me become a great piano player and I am very grateful for him.

There are so many things we love about Simply Music and our teacher, Guy Clearwater. After several years of traditional piano lessons my two daughters (8 & 11 at the time) were not thriving in their joy or understanding of music. Practicing was laborious, if at all. When we found Guy everything changed! They were both playing real songs and music became alive in our home!

Guy makes lesson time fun for the kids with his kind, gracious way with them. When they struggle with a new concept or chord, he is able to HEAR their mistake with his incredibly musical ability and then give them a tangible, creative way to fix it! It is unbelievable to watch. He makes them feel like musicians and composers as they make up and name their own songs each week! He gets excited for them when they improve and encourages us each week in areas we can improve more.

Being that we didn’t have a Simply Music teacher near our town, we actually have our lessons via FaceTime, which would seem to present a natural disconnect for something as hands-on and interactive as piano but the way they are able to jump right into lessons, his keen ear, and his energy makes it as though we were in the same room.

We highly recommend to anyone interested in piano, at any level and any age, to seek the opportunity to learn from Guy Clearwater!

As a professional musician myself, I chose Guy Clearwater for my talented children as their teacher. He is proficient with the elements of simplymusic.com, but also adapts the program and adds his own flavor to lessons and improvisation. My boys continue their mostly Skype based lessons and have progressed more with Guy than any other teaching method I have tried.
