    Frequently asked questions

We begin with a phone consultation which is the first step in getting acquainted. This provides an opportunity for us to talk about your health and wellness goals and will assist us in determining if private yoga is right for you.

We then move forward with scheduling your first session.  This session usually is a bit longer and includes an assessment of your strength, mobility, balance and range of motion. I'll guide through some functional movements, and introduce you to a few foundational postures and breathing practices that you can practice right away at home on your own.

From there, we create a plan to work together once, twice, or three times per week with yoga lessons that are suited to your body and your life.

I bring over twenty years of professional experience as a certified and registered yoga teacher, designing and leading mixed-level classes for corporations, private health clubs, and independent yoga studios.

I began my yoga studies at The Mindful Body in San Francisco, California, where I taught, practiced, and mentored after completing my 200-hour yoga teacher certification in 2001. My yoga studies continued through immersion courses, workshops, and additional teacher training programs, focusing primarily on Ashtanga, Iyengar, Yoga Therapy, Yoga for Kids, Prenatal, Postnatal and Restorative Yoga.

I've had the opportunity to learn from some of the industry's most influential teachers, including Tim Miller, Nischala Joy Devi, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Judith Lasater, Sara Powers, and Rod Stryker. But most notably, I have learned the most from the people I teach. They are my real inspiration and the reason why I do what I do.

There is no one size fits all to wellness. The number of sessions needed will vary, depending on the needs and goals of the student.

I offer various pricing options depending on location, how many sessions are booked, and whether sessions are in-person or online.

I began practicing yoga as a therapeutic aid to help me move through a difficult life transition.

At the time, I was struggling with a detrimental lifestyle that kept me stuck in unhealthy and habitual patterns of behaviors. My yoga practice gave me the time and space to slow down, turn inwards, and quiet my mind so I could address what needed healing.

I believe wholeheartedly in the power of yoga to heal and transform lives that I've become an advocate for helping others through their healing journey.

I have experience teaching people of all ages and levels of abilities. People who typically seek out my services are beginners who want to learn the foundational methods of yoga in a safe, supportive and private environment. Others include those needing help moving through a life transition or mourning a loss; rehabilitating an injury, improving a chronic health or medical condition; wanting to achieve a particular level of fitness or weight loss goal, or anyone needing the increased scheduling flexibility that only a private class can provide.

I'm currently helping a 38 year old woman who want's to loose weight and improve her health so that she can conceive. She starts IVF treatments in the spring and wants to ensure she's in optimal health. We've been working together now for about six weeks, and she's seen significant improvement in her strength, flexibility and mobility. She can now get up and down from the floor without struggle, and her mood is much happier as she has less depression. She has also lost ten pounds!

Always check credentials! Find out where your instructor studied and how long their training was. Make sure your yoga teacher is knowledgable, has at least a 200 hour certification from a reputable school, and is registered with the National Yoga Alliance.

How can private yoga lessons help you? What is your main concern or area of focus? What are the top three things you would like to work on together?
