About
I work with kids 7-11 to teach the fundamentals of baseball throwing, catching, hitting, baserunning etc. If your child is between 7-11 and has not played before they will probably need a lot of fundamental training as most of the kids they will be playing with have been playing for years already.
I have coached 7-11 yr olds for years now and have had great fun and a lot of success. Every kid that I coach becomes another one of "my kids" I see them everywhere and I am so proud of all of them.
Coaching baseball is so rewarding. Watching a player finally have something "click" and seeing the smiles on their faces as they succeed and get better is an amazing feeling. When the parents tell me "he was so excited to come to practice today" I know I've got the right kid and I am doing someting right.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I meet a new player for the first time I will evaluate them in the areas of throwing, catching and hitting, pretty standard stuff, however, I will also pay attention to their receptiveness and their comprehension of what I am teaching them. Many players don't have the mind body connection neccessary to do some of the baseball movements needed to be successful, so my work with each player is different based on what they can actually make their body do and how they learn.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been coaching baseball for years now and I have completed several programs teaching skills and how to coach but the most valuable training I have had is on the field and in the cage being "hands on" and training players to play the game.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing is going to be less than pretty much anyone else's pricing as I am not doing this for a job, I am doing this because I love it, and I want to help the local baseball programs get better and produce a more competitive group of players.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with 7-11 yr olds. I have found this group of players the group that needs the most teaching and the most help figuring out how to make their body do what their mind wants it to do. There are so many common "flaws" in swings at this age, so many common "flaws" in throwing motions/techniques that can be fixed early to allow the player to get better quickly and see quick successes by fixing the common "flaws" that plague so many players at this age. Fixing the easy stuff will give the player the needed base of knowledge and skill to build on to be the player they want to be.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
When looking to hire a coach in your really need to meet them. Many coaches sound good on the phone or have lots of great credentials but when it comes to actually "teaching" a player (in my age range of 7-11) you need more patience and you need a different demeanor than you do for a kid that is already good, looking to be elite. Teaching the new players or the under-skilled players is much harder than teaching the good players to be great players, because you need to create the base for learning that the good players already have.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Why are you playing baseball?
Are you playing for you or becasue someone else wants you too?
What is your baseball goal?
What skill do you think you need the most work on?
What skill are you already good at?
Are you willing to work on your skills at home on your own or with a parent/friend?
