I started in golf at age eleven as a country club caddy. I was asked to caddy for one of Greatest Women Golfers in the World, she won the tournament and told the Head Pro that she won because I could read the breaks in the greens so well. The tournament was four days long. Her name was Babe Didrickson Zaharias. Her kind words about me gave me the inspiration to continue sharing my abilities in golf to others.
I enjoy being able to transmit my knowledge of golf to students in easy way that is understandable the first time I tell or show my students. Watching the growth of golf students is the most pleasing aspect of teaching I obtain. Golf is a lifetime game that can be enjoyed forever. Depending on a persons golfing abilities I teach Beginners, Intermediates and Professional students. I have been a Golf Instructor for 46 years, am a Master Club Fitter that recommendes which clubs to buy if needed and have been the General Manager of Nevada Bob's Pro Shop and General Manager of Las Vegas Golf and Tennis as well. I have been dedicated to golf almost all my life and love sharing my golf knowledge. 😊⛳️ I am American 🇺🇸Scottish 🏴and Canadian 🇨🇦 and welcome all nationalities, race and higher powers.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first lesson takes about 1-1/2 hours as I'm looking at the grip, address to the ball, stance, posture,back swing, down swing, follow through and direction of the ball. I'm asking questions and getting accuainted with my student. I've been a Golf Instructor for almost 46 years teaching Beginners, Intermediate and Professional Golfers at Mira Vista CC, now known as Berkeley CC, Richmond CC, Boundry Oak GC, Diablo Creek GC and other courses in the San Francisco Greater Bay Area.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After college I was a Golf Manufacturer’s Representative in the Northern California territory, The General Manager of two Professional Golf Stores, I am a Master Golf Club Fitter and ENJOY Teaching the most. I convey my message in every day English and my students like practicing what they learned.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My lesson fee is is a Standard in the Bay Area fir Very Experienced Instructors however, my lessons are not standard as they are between 1 hour and 1-1/2 hours as I won't stop when I'm in the middle of something and the student is physically UP-To-It.
How did you get started teaching?
I gave pointers to people in my Golf Club members fir two years and enjoyed it. I interviewed with the Head Pro of a Golf Course in Southern California by giving him a lesson as though he were a Beginner and he had me come back that afternoon and do the same with his #1 Assistant. Both of them agreed I should be hired, is the way I got started teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
As I said earlier, I teach Beginners, Intermediate and Professional Golfers both Men and Women. I don't teach the age group from 5 to 15 any longer because I think the National Program of "First Tee" does a wonderful job. If a student in the age of 14 to 17 plays on a USGA Traveling Tour, I take them because they are Advanced and Very Interested in learning and practicing.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I save all golf tournaments that are on the Golf Channel and watch them at night. Watching the Touring Pros both Men and Women, is beneficial to everyone interested in golf. Little Lady golfers don't look like they hit the ball with force but watch how far their ball goes AND how accurate they are. In 2020 the Long Driving Pros showed how to get More rotation by LIFTING their lead foot and Turning it to the outside. More Hip weight gets into to Stricking the ball.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do you think you are seriously interested in learning Golf or are you doing it because a friend wants you to learn. TRY IT for one or two lessons and see if it's what you want. Don't buy brand new Expensive Clubs. You may want to buy a set of Experienced clubs in the beginning. Find out if the Instructor will HELP You get a set. Is he/she a Master Club Fitter?
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
There are Three important words in Golf. They are PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE !!! Will I Devote the Time REQUIRED to Practice even at night when only the LIGHTS are on. Do I have the fee money to invest in myself NOW? Make this game enjoyable to yourself and look forward to practicing what you have learned Over and Over and Over. It is for you to play your ENTIRE LIFE in almost every country.
