My teaching approach: Musicians Institute (M.I.) Instructor since 1997. I strive for a hands on, intense guitar lessons, pushing your limits to become the best you can be. Endorsed by ESP Guitars and Di'Addario Strings. I offer lots of hand-outs and jam-along tracks. My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's studio or the student's home Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours: Mon-Tues-10am-10pm Saturdays-11am-7pm Sundays-Noon-6pm * Skype lessons times flexable. Guitar Techniques I cover: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Guidance In Equipment Selection. Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: After 25 years of teaching, I approach the student and help create a list of goals to achieve, and strive for....homework and follow-up is given. Timing/Rhythm/Lead/Technique assessment is made. Hand-outs and exercises are given each week or month. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: I use a systematic approach to identify and isolate problem areas within a given players level of expertise. Each lesson is customized to fit, and address, any insufficiency in a players technique. Topics covered could include: THEORY MODES - IONIAN TO LOCRIAN MODAL PLAYING PENTATONIC SCALES PENTATONIC - EXERCISES/ SEQUENCES BLUES RIFFS (Bending & Vibrato) HARMONIC MINOR SCALE INTERVALLIC TECHNIQUES DIATONIC SEQUENCES & EXERCISES SPEED DYNAMICS LEGATO STRING-SKIPPING SWEEPING PEDAL TONES CAGED SYSTEM 3-NOTE-PER-STRING ARPEGGIOS - STUDIES AND EXERCISES ARPEGGIO ARTISTRY PHRASING RHYTHM. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: I like students who have that practice "bug". Hungry for knowledge, and willing to apply themselves. Homework and application are a must.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Set up a fun and productive practice schedule for the student. Focusing on proper technique and hand placement. Learn their musical tastes and devlop those areas.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taught for over 30years. 20years professionally at Musicians Institute (M.I.) in Hollywood. I am authorized to serve as a Instructor by the State of California consumer affairs.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My rates are normally $40 and hour. But, are based on travel time, location and inconvenience.
How did you get started teaching?
I started tutoring in College, which led to more work, and finally to teaching at a local University. It seems to be a gift to be able to identify problems areas with each player, and offer exercises and advice to improve.
What types of students have you worked with?
Over the years I have taught, trained and worked with all ages. From helping run Summer Camps for kids, to teaching at Colleges. All levels - All ages
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the teacher enjoys his work, and enthusiastic about your learning process.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have a set of goals, songs and styles you would like to learn.
