Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First we will get acquainted with your interests and what you want to achieve from each lesson. Then we get to know our theme and tools. No wasting time! Gotta get to the fun stuff. I will also create additional themed videos for you to watch at your leisure once you've hired me and joined my fb group. I'll tackle black and white as well as color and how to make it work for you, i.e. blending, shading, use of color as light.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied fine arts at Metro State here in Denver in the early 2000s. I used to be into street art , graffiti style before that so murals came natural to me. My inspirations are my parents who took notice and encouraged me, then artists like Emiliano Martinez, art from the ancient cultures of the world. Definitely Inspired by Native American art and neo ancient design. Nature and landscapes are quite therapeutic and with that comes the exploration of micro detail art. love color?black and white? pencil or chalk? We will sketch and sketch some more! We will cover portraits, usually a more intense session and for the more experienced artist, but we'll cover it on more of a basic level for newbies. Paint is my next love and blending is my favorite part. I prefer acrylics but we will cover the proper use of oils with the same concepts. My style when painting is usually a bit Bob Ross influenced with a touch of Kincaid detail. I also love pop art, art with strong geometry and bold colors, think, Guggenheim/Kahlo/Escher/Warhol/lisa Frank 🐅. Other skillsets ~ muralist and canvas stretcher graphic art design studies, jewelry design and creation.
