About
For Skylar, music is using the fretboard as a communication pathway of translating feeling into sound.
For 15 years, playing guitar has been a form of freedom and self-expression. Whether learning basic chord shapes, scales, modes, writing original music, or learning to play licks & riffs by ear, I’m here to help facilitate the engagement between you and your instrument. My goal through working with students is to help personalize and craft your own musical flow.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We start by talking about your goals. What do you hope to get out of this 1 on 1 time? Is there a song you want to learn how to play? Are you hoping to practice chords or transitions? The more you can give me, the more I can help you become the best musician you can be!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Much experience playing with different groups and bands in my life. I've played with 5 or 6 different bands over the last several years, write original music, and record my music from time to time.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I like to do the first session for free, and then I typically price $40/hr.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching to my mom and younger sister, who ended up loving stringed instruments and has gravitated towards the Ukelele now :)
