I'm a creative by nature and a teacher by trade. I'm the owner of Jay Billups Creative Media. I currently have four employees and three interns.

I often offer clases in basic and advanced photography. However, the best experiences are one-on-one, wher you'll have my full, undivided attention.

I'm fortunate to have a career in what I love - photography, video production, design and print. Furthermore, I love teaching and helping other people enjoy their passions and discover those wonderful "Ah ha" moments.

    Taking the intro to photography class with Jay was an AMAZING experience. He was able to make what seemed like a very scary topic, something easy and FUN to understand.     I have taken a bunch of photography classes and I have always found that it is hard to understand the aperture. Jays explanation of Depth of Focus was fantastic. Something just clicked and I understand it way better. In class, the visual example of the glass of water on the table and what would be in focus in the front and behind the cup.

    Frequently asked questions

    OUr process begins with a phone call to determine what it you'd like to learn. If we find that we're a good fit we'll setup an in-person meeting and go from there.

    I've trained all of my employees and serveral interns every year on the principles of photography and videography.

    I started teach in the US Air Force. I taught at the US Air Force Academy from 1998-2004.

    Since then I've taught in Washington D.C., COlorado Springs and online.
