How did you get started teaching?
Have been involved with golf, both amateur and professional for more than forty years. Have always studied the game and gradually evolved to Teaching and clubmaking as my primary interests. Played tournament golf as well, but Teaching and clubmaking are my strengths.
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginners to Mini tour professionals. Work mostly with individuals that have been playing golf for awhile and want to improve or reach a specific goal.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Female client broke 90 for the first time on a very difficult golf course. The text message was so rewarding and reminded me why I teach this great game.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone that will focus on your needs and your capabilities. Too many instructors are relying on technology and trying to make ordinary people into tour players. Most of us do not have the time, skills, or patience to practice enough to achieve such lofty goals. Find a teacher that will work with your skill set and find achievable improvement goals.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are their goals? What time and effort commitment can they make? What limitations should the Instructor be aware of? When is the best time for the student to meet with Instructor?
