My name is Asuncion but I go by "Victoria" my second name or "Chonin". I was born in Zaragoza (Spain) I am a retired university professor. I taught Spanish at the university for 30 years. Now I teach online. I have taught all levels and courses through the curriculum. I enjoy teaching online and all my students have different levels from beginners to intermediate conversational to more advanced and professionals. I am also a freelance translator and a Medical Spanish interpreter. I teach in blocks of 55 minutes. For class I use the Houseparty app or if you are subscribed to Zoom through that app.
I enjoy meeting new people but particularly when I see a student improving his/her skills. I like to discover my students interests. Since I teach online I can help more people because I have more time. I believe learning other languages makes the world better, more human, more diverse. Learning a new language allow us to meet more people, to enjoy other cultures.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I find out your exact level of Spanish and we proceed from there. I get to know the student preferences for learning approaches. I set a relaxing environment.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Ph.D. in Spanish by the University of Massachussetts at Amherst. I have extended experience in teaching diverse students, all diferent levels in the curriculum: 30 years teaching both presential and online.

My fee for 55 minute class is $25.00. The student has to pay through Venmo before the class starts.
How did you get started teaching?
I love helping people walking the process of learning a Foreign language. I saw myself learning other languages when I was younger (French, English) and I still remember a feeling of openess inside myself concerning other people and culture. My life got enriched by it. I wanr to share this with prospective students.
