I cater to the individual needs of each student. Personalized lessons and customized teaching techniques ensures every student I tutor will understand the material. Often times, students will struggle in a group class setting. If the student is unable to seek out help, they will fall behind. This can lead to lower grades and gaps in their education. This is especially seen in algebra I math classes. Conceptually, algebra can be confusing for beginners. Students can lose confidence in their mathematical abilities, and as the class progresses through the material, it can feel like the equations are becoming ‘illegible’. This is when I step in and work with students to make math ‘legible’ again.
To give a little background about myself, I was an honors math student through high school. During this time, I babysat for children and helped them with their homework. The parents noticed their children’s grades improving and word got around that I was a good tutor as well. From then on, I freelanced as a tutor and began working with high school students. I previously never made an online tutoring account before because it was only a part time job. However, because of the great success I have had with students, I decided to broaden my outreach and tutor online.
I find it incredibly gratifying to work with students. It is not always about the finished product or a finalized grade that makes it worthwhile. It is the process and the progression a student makes. I want to implore all students to feel satisfaction from learning and progressing.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I work with a new student, I will have them fill out a simple questionnare for me. The questions will ask if the student struggles with concepts, written answers, or specific techniques used to solve equations. I will also include a learning style preference for the student to pick. Whether they like to spend more time on conceptual topics or spend more time practicing different variations of a type of problem. This ensures the most effective use of time spent with their tutor.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated high school with honors and I am currently starting my first year at University of Hartford in the honors program.
Out of all the subjects, I did the best in math and decided to tutor math students. While teaching the students, I found 90% struggled with higher math because they did not properly learn pre-algebra or algebra 1. They did not have these essential foundations to progress. This is why I decided to focus on tutoring students in algebra 1 to ensure students have the proper foundation to progress.

My usual pricing is $35 per hour. I accept checks, Venmo, and cashapp.
How did you get started teaching?
During high school, I baby-sat and helped kids with their homework. The parents started to notice their children's grades improving and hired me as a tutor. Word got around and more parents started hiring me to tutor their children. This is how I started teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who have communication difficulties, social anxiety, and attention disorders.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A few months ago, I was tutoring a student that really struggled in school. She was falling behind and felt the teachers had given up on her. The parents told me I was her last hope. When we started our tutoring sessions, I realized this girl was very smart, but had difficulty understanding mathematical concepts. Once I explained the practical use of equations, it became so much easier for her to work through the problems coherently. After a couple of weeks, her grades began improving. I gave helped achieve more than good grades. She got her confidence back and learning became enjoyable.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The student should take some time to think about what they struggle with, and what they need from a teacher. It is also important to go through graded assignments and quizzes and take note of your most common errors or mistakes made in certain types of problems. In order to improve, you must learn from your mistakes.
