About
*Since I began teaching in 1980, my students have consistently received high NYSSMA scores, and have been invited to participate in All County, All State, All Eastern and All National. Often my students are seated first chair. They have been accepted at prestigious music schools, including The Manhattan School of Music, Peabody, Oberlin, Carnegie Mellon, New England Conservatory, Eastman, and many others. Non-music majors have received college scholarships.
*My students have won many competitions including The Long Island Flute Club, the Long Island Philharmonic, and the Sound Symphony Competitions.
*Many of my former students have gone on to professional careers, playing in orchestras or teaching music.
*I teach all ages including adults, and offer detailed, well structured lessons. I love teaching and believe communication, compassion and flexibility are key.
*I have a Bachelor of Music in Education from The Crane School of Music at Potsdam and a Masters from Stony Brook. My teachers include Sam Baron, Frances Blaisdell, Harold Bennett and Judith Mendenhall.
Working with students, getting to know them and their families, and watching them grow as musicians and people. I have kept in touch with many of my students over the years. It is a special, very personal relationship.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask students to bring a staff music notebook, any music they have and their instrument. We begin.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Music in Education from the Crane School of Music and a Masters from Stony Brook. I taught music in the Smithtown Schools for six years before teaching private lessons exclusively.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$40/ half hour; $60/forty-five minutes; $80/ hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching after college.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages, all levels.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It is very important to hire a professional. Experience and credentials= results. Studying with someone who teaches many different instruments may be a good starting point, but will not lead to the kind of progress that can be gained more quickly from a true expert.
