I love art, I love teaching art and talking about it! I customize my approach to each student while making it fun and interesting. I teach all ages, all experience levels. I am very focused on teaching teaching the fundementals including color and design theory, techniques and materials.
I am a professional artist specializing in watercolor, oil, mixed media, and pen & ink and charcoal drawing. I also am a caricature artist - i do quick caricatures for parties and events and freelance caricatures. I have a BFA in illustration and fine arts, and have a PA state teacher's license. I have taught in classrooms and community centers.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask what the student's goals and interests are, and get a sense of the experience level. I then create a gameplan along with the student. As we go forward I modify my approach as needed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA in illustration and fine arts from The Columbus College of Art & Design. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching from Western Oregon University. I have a PA state teachers license (K-12).
How did you get started teaching?
I was a student teacher and substitute teacher when I lived in Eugene Oregon. I have also taught some classes for kids and college students through The University of Oregon.
What types of students have you worked with?
Kids, teens, college students and adults.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who specializes in the specific skills and style that you are interested in learning. Look at the teachers art and make sure they are quite skilled.
