Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Our first lesson will consist of a swing evaluation and a full golf bag mapping to identify any equipment problems you have so we can address them early. We will also practice setup and routine which is the roadmap to consistency and results. After the session you will receive a lesson summary that outlines how far you hit all your clubs, what equipment issues you may have, how far you should be playing from etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been teaching for over 10 years. I worked with 3 top 100 instructors while I was an Assistant at The Boca Raton. After that I was in charge of Player Development at Broken Sound Club. I eventually moved to Lakeland and became an Assistant Golf Professional at Streamsong Resort. I have also worked as a fitter for Cleveland/Srixon/XXIO and a Player Support Specialist for PXG. I am one of the most experienced Instructors in Central Florida.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My lessons are $100/hr and I do have lesson packages available. Typically I recommend taking at least 2 lessons to engrain the feel and discipline. Game improvement is immediate.
All lessons will be performed on Full Swing simulators at The Back Nine in North Lakeland unless arrangements have been made elsewhere. If our lessons will be performed at a driving range I will have a FlightScope launch monitor so we can do a full swing evaluation.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching while I was still in High School before becoming a golf professional. I used to teach family and friends and that spawned a life long obesession with helping others find their swing as well.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with the entire spectrum of golfers. I've worked with kids, intermediate golfers, and even professional players. There isnt any player that I havent worked with at some point or another.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone with an array of experience. Be leary of instructors who have only ever worked at one location or are "specialized" in one particular aspect of the game.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should be careful when over thinking their own game. Let an instructor do an evaluation before you decide what to prioritize. Often the problems we feel/see in our own game isn't the root issue and thats where your instructor comes in.
Also, Don't take swing advice from your 15 hdcp friend. He doesnt know what he's seeing either lol
