Eva Montalvo Yoga Instructor - Nourish Your Whole Life
About
I believe that yoga is for EVERY BODY. I work with people of all shapes, sizes, age, and mobility levels to make yoga work for their body.
I have been teaching yoga for 3+ years, and practicing for about 14 years.
I really enjoy connecting with people and helping them learn how to move mindfully through poses, stretches, and breathing to give them more vitality, energy, and calmness.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I meet with a new student, I like to find out what they want from practicing yoga, and what their concerns are, such as any injuries or mobility issues. That way I can customize the class to meet their needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT®), February 2016
200 Hour Registered Yoga School (RYS) Teacher Training at Yoga from the Heart TX, completed January 2016
Certified Holistic Health Practitioner with the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, July 2013
Health Coach Professional Training and Certification Program, July 2013 - The Institute for Integrative Nutrition, New York City
YogaFit Level I Teacher Training, Certified April 2015
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing system is somewhat negotiable, depending on type and length of class, and location. I offer discounts for multiple private lessons paid in advance, and special rates for group classes.
How did you get started teaching?
After practicing yoga for over 10 years, I wanted to learn more about about alignment, principles, and class structure for my own practice. After taking my first weekend of teacher training, I just had to share it with people at work! I even volunteered at a women's prison to get more experience, and have been teaching ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all levels, ages, sizes, and shapes. However, I specialize in working with beginners, seniors, and anyone who isn't sure how to make yoga work for their body.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was so excited to have a student make a tiny adjustment after I talked them through it, and make that "Oh!" sound, finally understanding how that pose works in THEIR body after many times trying it. Or when a senior chair yoga student told me that they now practice yogic breathing when they're stressed out in the car, doctor's office, etc.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Please have a phone meeting or a face-to-face session before making a long-term commitment! Check out qualifications, of course, but also make sure that the instructor teaches in a way that makes sense to you, and in a format that you want. There are so many different types of teachers, styles, and formats out there, so feel free to try out different teachers.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about your why: why are you looking for an instructor, what do you want from yoga, what benefits do you expect to obtain? Ask the instructor how she will address those needs, and also for specific examples.
