Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Step one - Defense! .......
You have to learn how to defend yourself. You have to be aware of danger and how to recognize it. A "leaky" defense will leave you vulnerable. This is where you learn boxing theory. How to hold your hands, why you hold them there. How to move your feet and how to maintain balance and distance. What to look for. How to process and handle FEAR. How to manually override "fight or flight".
Step 2 Offense ..........
This is where the real fun begins. Now that you have a good understanding about defense and are comfortable protecting yourself, you can advance or retreat. Approach or escape. For the most part you are on control of yourself and the situation. Thinking on your feet, with splatter vision.

How did you get started teaching?
My parents were both athletes, and my uncle was a personal trainer of professional athletes. I was brought up in the culture of personal training and soon became a pro athlete. I was plagued by injuries due to overtraining. One day I got injured in a basketball tournament and the Dr said I wouldn't walk again. He also said if I did I would never walk normally. It was then that I realized that I didnt know how to take care of my body, and that I had to learn how.
I began the process of self rehab. As I was going through the process I began studying for my certification in fitness training. Fast foward 15 years, I now have several certifications and over 12 years of exeperience of helping people (from all different walks of life) reach there goals.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with everyone from children to adults. Injured or not; Fresh out of pt; young and old; even post surgery. Amateur to pro
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Helped several high school students defend themselves from bullying. Now they no longer get picked on or "talked trash about".
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you take the time to ask the right questions of your trainer. Make sure that he or she embodies what they are trying to teach. Avoid those do as I say not as I do situations.
