About

My teaching approach:

My professional experience includes teaching private students sine 2000, teaching English in Japan (4 years; all ages), substitute teaching, college professor's aid experience, and more. Whether related to teaching guitar or other subjects, I have plenty of teaching experience. I like to use the book, "Harmony and Theory," I always use metronomes, keep up to date materials for students using youtube and other utilities/programs, and have a very patient personality mixed with a scientific approach to teaching. Students must practice, so I motivate them to practice daily!

My influences are:

Scott Henderson, Nirvana, Pantera, Blink 182, Cuban artists such as NG la Banda and La Charanga Habanera, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, James Brown, and more.

My guitar lessons take place in:

The teacher's studio or the student's home

Guitar Techniques:

Guidance In Equipment Selection, Recording and Production, Song Writing, Scales and Exercises, Music Theory, Reading Music, Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Fingerstyle, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

Asking questions about the major scale first and foremost. About chord types, theory, etc.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

Books or without books. Assessing your current level then taking it from there. Of course assessing goals, ideal genres to emphasize, etc.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

One that takes notes and scans MY notes regularly throughout the week as they practice 30+ min/day.
