I have been drawing for 40+ years, most of it professionally. I can train students to visualize, construct and finish pieces in pencil, paint and clay. I have a real world background with architecture, design, and illustration - including children's books and graphic novels.

I enjoy seeing the lightbulb go on in students eyes when they comprehend a concept for the first time. The best, though, is watching students grow and start creating with confidence on their own. Most of all, I love drawing!

I like to find out what the student is into and try to gear lessons toward their particular taste and objectives.
First, I like to cover basic shape and perspective, light and shadow, then move into rendering. Rendering starts with line and moves into cross hatching and other techniques for creating tone. Color is the final topic which we will explore at length if the student is interested.
We will be deep and serious and light hearted and fun. Most of the time, both.
