About

I have spent 13 years as a private Chef aboard luxury yachts working for the rich and famous and traveling the world. A graduate of the International Culinary School, I owned and operated a catering business, and have taught culinary lessons for several years.

Formally trained in basic French methods, as well as international cuisines. I center my cooking style around healthy, low-fat, local, fresh, organic ingredients. My favorites to prepare are Mediterranean, Latin, Caribbean, Asian and Italian however I love teaching cuisines from any part of the world.

My passion for food has led me to start developing a small organic farm to table travel experience in the beautiful Central American country of Nicaragua.

One of my favorite things is leading interactive cooking/teaching experiences for individuals, couples and small groups in their homes. I started doing events like this many years ago back in Minnesota where I'm from, before I started working on private yachts and traveling the globe. I'm happy to be returning to this and excited to share what I've learned with you.

Cooking brings out my creative side which shows when I am teaching. People tell me that I have a friendly and outgoing personality, am witty, and engaging.

    Frequently asked questions

When we first connect, I would like to learn about your previous culinary experiences and what you would like to learn. A good place to start is often with knife skills, then branch out from there into more specific areas of interest.

You will see from my profile that my training and experience is extensive and well suited to most areas of training.

I typically charge a base rate per student, based on what is being taught and includes ingredients. I will ask for a deposit which will cover the cost of ingredients and if mutually agreed upon, will be delivered to your home the day of or day prior to our lesson. This deposit is non-refundable as it covers the cost of food which you will receive even if you have to cancel or reschedule. Wine and other beverages can be negotiated.

I started teaching many years ago for a small culinary school and retail outlet. It was so rewarding I branched off on my own.

I have worked with students at all levels of culinary experience.

When I was working aboard a private yacht in Turkey and Greece, all of the ladies onboard asked if I would teach them how to stuff a lamb roast, so in my modest galley I set up 4 stations and had them all in to learn the process. The best part? They did all my prep for dinner that night!!

Make sure to ask lots of questions and make sure their experience and training is in line with your goals. Also, ask about their personality since you will likely be spending a bit of time together.
