What is your typical process for working with a new student?
1. Assessment of skills/abilities and theory knowledge (if a student had music lessons previously). For true beginners-assessment of general rhythm-pitch-isochronous time intervals (meter) sensitivity; for young children: of assessment writing ability/length of focus
2. Introducing technique development principles and basic theoretical and performance practice concepts for new students/or working on technique and repertoire if it is a transfer student. For young children information is introduced in the form of musical games (unless assessed otherwise).
3. Discussion of Development Plan (repertoire/technique skills set/performance goals-according to student's personal goals).
